Etimologia

Il nome del genere mwfaNarrowteuthis si riferisce all'aspetto stretto di questo calamaro e alla forma delle ventose compresse. L'mwfqepiteto della specie onora la memoria di Kir Nesis, esperto di calamari oceanici.cite-ref-0-2-0[2]

Descrizione

mwhqN. nesisi è un calamaro che raggiunge una lunghezza del mwhgmantello di 10mwhw cm.mwiacite-ref-1-3-0[3] Gli esemplari di questa specie hanno braccia con due serie di ventose e clave tentacolare con quattro serie di mwjqventose sull'estremità distale e dattilo e più di 10 serie di piccole ventose sulla parte prossimale. I fotofori sono assenti.cite-ref-0-2-1[2]

Distribuzione e habitat

mwlaN. nesisi è originario dell'mwlqOceano Atlantico nord-orientale, al largo delle mwlgIsole Canarie. È una specie mwlwbatipelagica che si rinviene a profondità comprese tra 1750 e 2000 m.mwmacite-ref-1-3-1[3]
